December 2007 Newsletter: January 2008 project visit

A volunteer with an experience in project management will visit RSVP programmes in January 2008.

The aim is to:

Provide the Basic Book Keeping Lessons to the caterer: the material for this short course will be printed and bound into a small bouklet. It will help the caterer learn how to balance the books.

Since the caterer who won the competition has no formal education beyond primary school level, such a training is expected to be crucial for her success.

RSVP aims here not just to extract optimum advantages from this business relationship but to also empower the caterer to gaining some transferable skills as result of working with RSVP.

Financial audit of all transactions: This volunteer will inspect all the receipts, bank statements, and will confirm the caterer's admission that she has been paid well since May to October 2007. This goes also with other issues requiring checks.

Interview parents of kids: A number of parents of outgoing P6 kids and the new cohort of kids enrolled on the school lunch scheme will be interviewed in order to gage their views on RSVP's project so far.

Interview kids: Likewise, a sample of our former P6 kids, now waiting to hear from the National Examinatin Board, will be interviewed together with the incoming P6 and P5 kids

School Meal Expansion: This volunteer will assess the progress of this three fold expansion
