Photo annotation- 2006/2007 P6 class
The first two picture show P6 kids in standing position.
School kids normally stand up like that either to greet their teacher first thing in the morning or afternoon, or any other time for visitors including a teacher from a different class.
Unlike in my time, the law has been changed so that these kids start P1 aged 7 and do only 6 years of primary education. The ideal age should therefore be 12, but the information from the questionnaires filled in by these very kids shows many of them are well above that age.
The school uniforme is the same as in my time: girls wear a blue dress? locally known as RANGI-MOYA, a Kiswahili word meaning one colour; boys wear kaki shorts and shirts.
Also, like in my time, the class in arranged in 2 raws leaving a corridor in the middle. Kids seat in pairs. The blackboard and the teacher's desk-not shown- are in the front of the class.
Unlike in my time, the church owning this primary school appears to have provided quite nice desks. The part facing the kids has a space where the kids can keep their stationery. In my time, certainly in P1 to P3, we used bricks as bench to seat on and then do same stuff but higher above the level of (taller than) the bench to lean on when writing- not very well explained here! sorry.

Like in my time, kids both boys and girls are not allowed to have a lot of hair. So, hair cuts have to be regular and, in my time, if the teacher or head teacher could manage to hold and pull one's hair by hand, it meant the hair cut was overdue.
The last photograph shows unfinished classes- not sure whether they are in use or not- and playground. The church building is not visible.
