Critical appraisal of the HIV trip- Teachers' View.
Teachers questionnaires had only two open questions: Lessons learned from the trip and what went wrong and suggestions for future trips.
1. Lessons learned.
2. What went wrong and suggestions for future trips
They ended up having a cooked meal in Kamembe on their way back to Bugarama. That was about 6pm. But yet the church minister, head teacher, all teachers and RSVP coordinator were all present...! None of them got an insight to check on the head teacher who was in charge of meals.
So, in all honesty, this went badly and very unecessarily wrong. The Rwandan coordinator has investigated the issue and lessons have been learned.

A sample of answers to teachers’ questionnaire
This sample questionnaire has been filled in by Mr Esron NTEGEREJIMANA, the P4 teacher (class B).
Question 1: What have you learned from this trip?
Answer: I have learnt many things from this trip such as
1. At the airport I saw different instrument used in meteo. Though I knew some theoreticaly, I saw many new ones. This will enable me, when teaching them to kids, to draw or present them clearly and more confidently.
Another thing I gained from the airport is the understanding about aeroplane stuffs. I have undeerstood how people behave at the airport and when they go into a plane and believe that I can easily travel by plane.

2. At Ntendezi secondary school: I have been able to know the general structure of the school especially how you can enquire about different services in the school.
3. At the hospital: I have grasped the hosiptal structure, I know the role of different departments we have been presented to. I have also clearly understood the presentation on HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
We received explanations on transmission and prevention methods. I have also been able to see how different cases are treated (how patients admitted in the hospital are cared for).

Question2: What can we improve in future trips?
Answers: I have some suggestions for future trips:
1. If the finances allow, it would be better to have P5 with P6 classes together.
2. A study trip for teachers to increase or build their capacities in different areas especially technology and national geography.
3. It will be good to have lunch on time because when a person is hungry they hardly follow what they are taught.
