Multiple Caterers -MC-: Discussion of advantages/Disadvantages

The advantages/disadvantages of a single caterer vs multiple caterers are very hard to ignore but also tough to balance. However, seen in the light of the future, a few sacrifices coupled to intensified controls, might lead to a compromise, however less ideal its nature!

For example, it may be totally impossible to imagine that RSVP’s caterers will continue to take kids to their private premises once half or whole school is enrolled into the school meal programme.

That would simply be chaotic due to concerns on the security of kids, impracticability of quality controls, multiple daily complaints etc……!

A more definite contract management strategy is still to be worked out by the Rwanda and UK teams.

In meantime, the caterer who won the competition in 2007 had the contract extended for 2008, provided more intensified controls are put in place to guard against complacency. Hence the introduction of the School Meal Annual Evaluation Committee-SMAEC .
