Below is a snapshot of the life of the 3 children selected for bursary:
Anaclet Ndayizeye Jean Damascene Hagenimana Olivier Nsengiyunva.
Ten children studying at the school supported by RSVP passed the national test in 2007 school year. They included 8 boys and 2 girls. Those children were allocated to different boarding secondary schools by the ministry of Education according to their marks and carrier choice.
Like in Simon Mbarushimana's time, their families managed to send them to school in January 2008 either after taking on very risky loans or selling part of the family land or any livestock etc…, so that nothing is left for subsequent years.
This is why the Rwandan School Village Project initiated a bursary scheme to support these poor children most of whom have made it against the odds. The school meal program and curriculum books enabled these children to stand a better chance of passing the national test. So, it is a real blessing to see them embarking on a very promising educational pathway.
Three out of ten children were chosen for bursary in a fair and democratic way: the entire teaching staff at Mihabura Primary School (11 teachers), head teacher, Church Minister, President of Parents' committee, Rwanda Coordinator, and the new member of the team in charge of Statistics met in a locked room for this selection.
